Gout at the Rib Joints

Title: Tophaceous gout of the first costochondral junction in a heart transplant patient

The author reported a case of 49-year old man with a 10 year history of gout. He came in with a painful left first rib. A biopsy guided by use of CT-scan (computed tomography scan) revealed an immunological reaction to foreign materials called foreign body giant cell reaction as well as crystal depositions or tophi consistent with gout.
