Gout is one of the oldest known disease – its name comes
from the Latin word “gutta” meaning “a drop”.
In this paper, the author reviewed the history of gout, with particular
attention to the interpretation of the origins of the joint and
kidney involvement. By analyzing these, the authors are able to
analyze the different stages in the evolution of our understanding
of gout.
