Intra-abdominal gout mimicking pelvic abscess.

Title: Intra-abdominal gout mimicking pelvic abscess.
Authors:
Chen CH, et al.
Publication: Skeletal Radiol. 2005 Apr;34(4):229-33. Epub 2004 Nov 20.

The authors presented an unusual case of uric acid deposits (tophi) inside the pelvis of a patient suffering from chronic gouty arthritis. Computed-tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the abdomen and pelvis showed tophi around both hips and a lesion in the pelvic cavity along the iliopsoas or greate flexor muscle of the hip joint. The gouty deposit thus mimicked an abscess (pus filled cavity) in the pelvis.
