The Treatment of Acne

Title: The treatment of acne
Author:
Dreno B
Publication: Presse Med. 2005 Apr 9;34(7):540-3.

The author noted that acne treatment, both local and systemic (whole body) forms, must take into account the type of acne and expected prognosis. Because of drug resistance, antibiotics should only be used for a limited time and as part of combination treatments. In women, new generations of birth control pills can be part of the treatment regimen. Also, since isotretinoin cannot be used while pregnant, zinc can be a viable alternative. In all, cosmetic care should be a fundamental part of treating acne.
