Clindamycin Gel and Topical Solution for Acne Treatment

Title: Results of a randomized, multicentre study comparing a new water-based gel of clindamycin 1% versus clindamycin 1% topical solution in the treatment of acne vulgaris.

In this study, the author tested the efficacy of two-forms of clindamycin phosphate, a common topical antibiotics used to treat acne. They find that in a test of 592 patients after 12 weeks, a new water-based gel of clindamycin 1% is slightly better tolerated than the traditional topical solution form. In all, a reduction of 65% in acne lesion count was observed with both forms of this antibiotics.
