Inflammation in Acne and Scarring

Title: The role of inflammation in the pathogenesis of acne and acne scarring
Authors:
Holland DB, Jeremy AH
Publication: Semin Cutan Med Surg. 2005 Jun;24(2):79-83.

Inflammation plays a role in all stages of the development of acne lesions – however, the trigger that causes this inflammation is still unknown. To find this trigger, a new non-invasive technique to detect follicles that are close to becoming an acne lesion is needed. The author also note that there is a difference in the types of inflammation in patients with scars from acne, as compared to those who has non-scarring acne.
