Depression and Suicidal Behavior with Isotretinoin

Title: Depression and suicidal behavior in acne patients treated with isotretinoin: a systematic review.
Authors:
Marqueling AL, Zane LT
Publication: Semin Cutan Med Surg. 2005 Jun;24(2):92-102.

The authors reviewed 9 studies analyzing the possible link of isotretinoin acne treatment (brand name Accutane) with depression and suicidal behavior. In these studies, the rates of depression range from 1% to 11%. The authors found that there is no link between the two – in fact, they found less cases of depression in those treated with isotretinoin.
