Topical Retinoids for Inflammatory Acne

Title: Topical retinoids in inflammatory acne: a retrospective, investigator-blinded, vehicle controlled, photographic assessment.

Five authors independently rated the effectiveness of the following retinoids:

  • Tazarotene 0.1% gel
  • Adapalene 0.1% gel
  • Tretinoin 0.1% microsponge
  • Tetinoin 0.025% gel
  • Tazarotene 0.1% crème

in the treatment of acne of 577 patients. They found that acne was improved with all 4 retinoids, with tazarotene being the most effective, followed by, adapalene, tretinoin microsponge, and lastly tretinoin gel.
