Psoriasis Pictures

Below are pictures of several different types of psoriasis:

Plaque Psoriasis: the most common type of psoriasis. This form of psoriasis appears as thick, flaky patches of skin called plaques or lesions.

Nummular lesions are plaque psoriasis lesions that are discoid or coin-shaped.

Guttate psoriasis appears as small, red bumps on the skin. This form of psoriasis usually affects children, and appear suddenly after strep throat infection.

Inverse psoriasis affects the areas of the body where the skin folds, such as armpits, groins, and webs of the toes.

Scalp psoriasis affects the scalp. This condition resembles severe dandruff, with patches of thick and scaly skin that may extend below the hairline.

Nail psoriasis is marked by pitting, appearance of dark spots (resembling oil droplets) and flaky skin under the nails. Onycholysis or separation of the nail sfrom their beds may also occur.

Palmoplantar psoriasis affects the palms of the hand and the soles of the feet. This form of psoriatic lesion may appear as chronic flaky patches that crack and bleed.

Psoriatic Arthritis
Pustular psoriasis is a rare and severe form of psoriasis with small, pus-filled blisters. When it affects the palm and soles of feet (in a condition called palmoplantar pustulosis or acropustulosis), this type of psoriasis can be disabling.

Erythrodermic psoriasis is marked by red, flaking and thickened skin that covers most of the body.

Psoriatic arthritis affects about 10% of people with psoriasis. In this condition, inflammation and swelling occurs in the joints of the hands and feet.
