Pifubing Xuedu and Diyin Tablets for Psoriasis

The authors wanted to test whether Pifubing Xuedu Pill (PXDP)
combined with Diyin Tablet (DYT) were effective in the treatment
of psoriasis. In order to do this, they enrolled 60 patients who
were randomly divided into the treated and control groups. Both
groups were given DYT, however only the treated group was given
PXDP for 1 month.
The authors found that in the treated group had a clinical cure
rate of 60% and a total effective rate of 73.3%, detailed below:
- 7 patients were completely cured
- 11 patients were basically cured
- 4 patients were rated markedly effective
- 7 patients had improved
- 1 patient had no effect (ineffective treatment)
The control group had a clinical cure rate of 23.3% and the total
effective rate of 53.3%, detailed below:
- 3 patients were cured
- 4 patients were basically cured
- 9 patients were marked markedly effective
- 10 patients had improved
- 4 patients had no effect (ineffective treatment)
No statistically significant difference was shown in comparison
of the total effective rate between the treated and control groups,
however there was statistically significant difference in the
clinical cure rate.
The toxic and adverse side effect in the treated group was lower
than that of the control group.
The authors concluded that DYT in combination with PXDP had better
therapeutic effect, higher efficacy, quicker initiation, and less
toxic side effects than DYT alone.
